Reminders

If you have not yet joined Squidlog, you will want to do that. You can read great articles about your Squidoo life, link directly to Squidoo chat, get to know other lensmasters, and in general, just have some Squidoo-fun!

Also, if you have not yet checked out One Week Marketing, this is a reminder to do that. Go and download the free pages and see what you think! Potpiegirl is amazing!

and one more reminder - have you introduced yourself over at SquidU? Click on Discussion Forum, fill out your profile information, and go to the forum area marked "introduce yourself". SquidU is vital to lensmasters. And a great way to meet your fellow Squidoo-ers.

Take the time to review all of the available modules. It's easy to get into the habit of using the same ones over and over. I know I have to make myself stretch sometimes to try something new. Exploring the modules is a great way to stretch and make your lenses more interesting, for sure!

Are you having fun with Squidoo?

Squidoo Lens Ideas

Are you searching for a great lens idea today?

It is time to make some seasonal lenses - spring is here. Easter, gardening, fashions and celebrations!
Take a look at Ohme's Spring Jubilee, which announces and highlights the spring celebration in her hometown of Pendleton, SC.

And do use that great new About Me Module. I am trying now to add it to the bottom of all my lenses. Scroll down to the bottom of my lensography and see how it works.

Sing a Song of St. Patrick's Day

Have you created a song lens yet? I am constantly fascinated that my song lenses rank high on Google and on Squidoo. I have song lenses for every holiday, and even some that are not for holidays, but just for fun! My 100th lens includes music from every decade of my life. It was great fun to create that one!

and remember, people like to see the lyrics, so they can sing along!

Take a look at Saint Patrick's Day Songs or
visit my music lenses directory

This week, create your own music lens! It's fun!

Squid Tips for You

Yeah! Squidoo Headquarters published a free e-book for its members! Did you get your copy? Squid Tips for You is just waiting for you to download!

I am very proud that my Pendleton lens is right there! Along with all of my sister's lenses about Pendleton! My sister is Ohme on Squidoo.

If you live in a small town, you will want to study Ohme's lenses about Pendleton. There are five of them-- one covers community calendar and activities, another is about the community-built playground, another about local businesses and 2 with local historical photographs. Any small town would be thrilled to have you make lenses about them!

Do let me know if you follow up on this idea! I would love to read about your town!

SquidUtils Toolbar

Are you using the SquidUtils Toolbar yet? This is a free tool available to you from SquidUtils, by thefluffanutta. He created a lens to explain the new toolbar. Go to Get the SquidUtils Toolbar and read all about it. The toolbar will connect you quickly to all of the blogs from Squidoo headquarters, allow you to rate, comment and favorite lenses without all the scrolling up and down, connect straight to your dashboard, and always know when lensrank is updated. And that is just the beginning.

And if this is your introduction to SquidUtils, spend some time on that site. You will find helpful tools for your Squidoo-world available for free.

PS - Need a list of things to do with your lenses? Go to
Squidoo To-Do Lists for a quick review and a list of the best resources available. and have fun!

General Etiquette on Squidoo

One of the first things to do as a new Squidoo-er is to visit lots of lenses. These visits will teach you more than you can learn in any book. And if you enjoyed the lens, please say so. Your comment should be in tune with the lens and should include enough information to show that you actually read it.

Do not just say "nice lens" and add your link. In fact, do not add your link in someone else's comments unless it is very specifically relevent. When in doubt, just don't do it. If someone wants to know more about you, they can click on your name for your profile.

Do say positive things. Example "I learned so much from this lens. I did not know the Statue of Liberty history. Thank you." or "Your pictures of the Statue of Liberty are beautiful"......

As you visit and comment, many of the lensmasters you visited will return your visit and comment. This is a great way to make friends in the Squidoo community.

And do be a participant in the community. Be active and helpful in the forum. You will learn so much there.

Now two lenses for learning and viewing:
Learn about Squidoo Angels, go to Is A Squid Angel Looking Over Your Shoulder?

And just for fun, visit our daughter's wedding at Unique Wedding Ideas

Keep writing and creating and have fun!

Your First Lens

As soon as you join Squidoo, you need to do two important things.
First, create a lens. It does not have to be perfect, but create a lens on your favorite subject.
I recommend 3 text/write modules. Be sure to keep these short. I learned the hard way that people do not like to read long text modules. 5 sentences is plenty!
Add a picture or two or three. Pictures add interest and color to your lens.
Add a guest book. Give people the opportunity to comment.
Now, with your first lens created, go join SquidU forum and read as much as you can. This is the central learning center for creating Squidoo lenses.

Each post, I will make two recommendations to you- one is a place to learn more about Squidoo and the second will be one of my own lenses for you to visit.
Today, since this is the very beginning, I recommend that you visit
Creating Your First Lens
and I invite you to visit one of my favorite lenses
