How to Get Traffic to Your Lenses

My friend, Elizabeth Jean Allen, has created a wonderful lens about Squidoo traffic. This one is a must read -- no, this one is a must study! You will want to bookmark this lens and return to it over and over again. Lizzie includes links to add your lens to Google, Yahoo, MSN, and a group of Squid Directories.
Visit Building Traffic on Squidoo and leave Lizzie a thank you note. This information is vital to Squidoo success.

Kids With Special Needs

Today Highlighting my Newest lens, Kids with Special Needs -- and there is a reason I want to share it with you.

My sister was here visiting last weekend, and we created this lens together. We just wanted to spread the word of Dr. Wood's programs. No one was more surprised than we were when it zoomed up to # 266 overall in 3 days.

We have had visitors - over 60 in the first 3 days, but not thousands by any means. What we have had is comments and click outs. People seem to be interested in the subject and the links listed on the lens are very specific and focused on Dr. Wood's program. I really think that has made a big difference.

Of course, It helps that Dr. Wood's programs are well known and that she has many websites filled with helpful information for parents and teachers. I am excited to think what will happen to this lens when google crawls it. Yes, I listed it with google and msn. Will submit to yahoo today.

We can all learn from this one.

General Etiquette on Squidoo

One of the first things to do as a new Squidoo-er is to visit lots of lenses. These visits will teach you more than you can learn in any book. And if you enjoyed the lens, please say so. Your comment should be in tune with the lens and should include enough information to show that you actually read it.

Do not just say "nice lens" and add your link. In fact, do not add your link in someone else's comments unless it is very specifically relevent. When in doubt, just don't do it. If someone wants to know more about you, they can click on your name for your profile.

Do say positive things. Example "I learned so much from this lens. I did not know the Statue of Liberty history. Thank you." or "Your pictures of the Statue of Liberty are beautiful"......

As you visit and comment, many of the lensmasters you visited will return your visit and comment. This is a great way to make friends in the Squidoo community.

And do be a participant in the community. Be active and helpful in the forum. You will learn so much there.

Now two lenses for learning and viewing:
Learn about Squidoo Angels, go to Is A Squid Angel Looking Over Your Shoulder?

And just for fun, visit our daughter's wedding at Unique Wedding Ideas

Keep writing and creating and have fun!

New to Squidoo?

This is your starting point. This blog will take you step by step in creating and optimizing your Squidoo lenses. Learn along with me!

Your First Lens

As soon as you join Squidoo, you need to do two important things.
First, create a lens. It does not have to be perfect, but create a lens on your favorite subject.
I recommend 3 text/write modules. Be sure to keep these short. I learned the hard way that people do not like to read long text modules. 5 sentences is plenty!
Add a picture or two or three. Pictures add interest and color to your lens.
Add a guest book. Give people the opportunity to comment.
Now, with your first lens created, go join SquidU forum and read as much as you can. This is the central learning center for creating Squidoo lenses.

Each post, I will make two recommendations to you- one is a place to learn more about Squidoo and the second will be one of my own lenses for you to visit.
Today, since this is the very beginning, I recommend that you visit
Creating Your First Lens
and I invite you to visit one of my favorite lenses
